What can the school do?By: Brandon GivenTeachers and school staff need to be out in the hallway when the kids are passing to class. This will
help the victim feel safer and the bully won’t be able to hurt them. When a child brings it to your attention, LISTEN to them. Then ask the victim what they think will help the situation. Find a way to keep the bully and victim away from each other. Do a school wide reminder of the legality of bullying. Stand firm on your Zero Tolerance no matter how much the parents donate or volunteer to the school. What Can Students do to Prevent Bullying?Take a stand and do not join in.
Don’t stand by and watch or record it. Step in and stop it, if you do not feel safe, look for someone to help. Tell the people standing around to leave with you and don’t give the attention to the bully(that is what the bully is looking for. If you don’t sit and watch then he will stop). Support the person being bullied. Offer to help them or to report it. The victim needs to find someone they trust (and that is a hard thing to do). Ask for counseling because the counselor can’t tell other people and you will feel safe. |
Confront the bully, about their life. |
Ask if the bully is having trouble at home? Is he struggling with something, and needs advice.
